  • Normal Electrical Activity

  • Energized electrical systems and operating equipment normally produce detectable magnetic fields. A measurable reading alone does not prove that equipment is defective or that a health hazard exists. Readings vary with electrical demand, equipment operation, distance from the source, and conditions at the time of the survey.

  • What This Service Does Not Test

  • This is not a radio-frequency survey. It does not evaluate Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular signals, smart-meter communications, broadcast antennas, cell towers, microwave-frequency leakage, or "dirty electricity." Those subjects require different instruments and testing protocols.

  • Common Sources

  • Common sources include electrical panels and service conductors, transformers, motors, pumps, major appliances, mechanical equipment, and overhead or underground power infrastructure. A microwave oven can create a strong low-frequency magnetic-field reading from its electrical components while operating; that is different from measuring the microwave-frequency energy used to heat food.
